“I brought my American passport today in case I die today. I want the American people to know that they are supporting one of the most oppressive regimes in the world and Americans are also dying for it.”

They’re poor, they’re ruled by autocrats, and they’re pissed. They’re the Arabs, and they’re not going to take their rulers’ shit anymore. Good for them. More countries in Africa need to stand up and be counted. I don’t know about you, but I’m rooting for them all the way. Unfortunately what we have here is more than a people bravely standing up to corrupt forces. What we have here is a diplomatic nightmare that could lead to Armageddon if it’s not handled right. President Obama is urging political reform in Egypt and for Mubarak not to harm the protesters. But you know what? Although Mubarak has appointed a new cabinet to appease his people, the drum beat of discontent continues unabated. Meanwhile, Israel, with an ouster of Mubarak, would be vulnerable again if say, that Muslim Brotherhood, which is tight with Hamas, gets a foothold in a new government. YIKES!!!! Isn’t the Middle East enough of a nightmare already?

Meanwhile speaking of Hamas they and the Palestinian Authority are keeping silent and above the fray hoping the upraising train doesn’t pull into their town. This is some scary shit, people. Possible complete destabilization of the Middle East isn’t a good thing. All we can hope for is a peaceful resolution and that other autocratic Arab rulers get the picture that they need to change the bullshit ways.
