Tip Toe through the Racism

As Featured On EzineArticles

In the wake of Donald Trump’s dubious triumph of getting the President to release his long-form birth certificate, my mind turns to the rabid Birther Movement. How did this crazy train get started and why? Apparently during the 2008 election the Clinton camp floated the question of Obama’s citizenship, aiming to decimate his chance at winning the nomination, and the more unhinged elements of the Right-wing camp took it and ran. This, despite the fact that his short form was good enough for the officials that vetted his bid for the nomination in the first place.

In a country as deeply racist as ours, where some consider any non-white person to be not fully American, it’s easy to foment doubts in the minds of bigots about people who don’t look like they do. Now, before I get going on a full tilt rage, I want to direct you to what one of my favorite bloggers on this topic has to say. His name is Julian Abagond, and he writes clearly and articulately on the topic of American racism.

Abagond believes as I do that the Birther Movement is racist, and he calls it out for what it is, instead of tip-toeing around the obvious. Unfortunately, as you will notice, some of his commenters do not share this view. In fact many will seem to be apologists for the Birther Movement and members of the “Anything But Racism” crew.

Judge for yourself! Here is the link.
